BTA drill is a deep hole processing system (single-tube drill) that supplies cooling oil from the outside and discharges iron chips from the inside. Generally, the BTA drill bit and the drill pipe are connected through thread locking, and the cutting fluid is drawn from between the hole and the drill pipe. It is supplied to the drill bit processing department, and the cutting fluid under high pressure is discharged from the inside of the drill rod along with the iron chips. Since the iron chips are discharged from the inside, there is no need for an external chip flute like a gun drill, so both in terms of processing efficiency and processing quality better.

Compared with gun drilling, BTA drill has the following advantages:

1. The drill bit and drill pipe are easy to load and unload;

2. The difficulty of chip removal is reduced accordingly, making the BTA drilling system suitable for processing large-diameter deep holes;

3. Since the relative oil supply area of BTA is much larger than that of gun drilling, and the chip removal space is large, the pressure of the cooling system of the BTA drilling system is significantly reduced;

4. Under the premise that the drill bit diameter, drill pipe length and drill pipe material are the same, the torsional stiffness of BTA drill pipe is about 2.4 times that of gun drill drill pipe, and the bending stiffness is also much higher than that of gun drill drill pipe, so BTA drill pipe can Using a large feed rate, the vibration resistance of the drill pipe is also better than that of gun drilling, which is beneficial to improving drilling efficiency and processing quality;

5. The center of mass of the drill pipe coincides with the central axis, and the torsional strength and stiffness are greater than the V-shaped drill pipe of the gun drill. This advantage makes the BTA drill particularly suitable for deep hole drilling in which the workpiece is fixed and the drill bit rotates;

6. Since the chips are discharged from the inside of the drill pipe, the chips will not scratch the machined surface, and the machined surface quality is better;
